This role entails steering through intricate data challenges, pioneering mathematical applications in data science, and converting state-of-the-art research findings into actionable business intelligence.

As a Data Science Specialist, you will serve as a pivotal strategic advisor, wielding influence over long-term business strategies through data-powered insights while cultivating a culture of economic mindfulness, adept communication, and ongoing learning among teams.

General Accountabilities

• Innovate in applying mathematical theories to data science, significantly contributing to developing new analytical frameworks.
• Conduct influential research initiatives, advancing the field of data science and mentoring others in research methodologies.
• Translate research findings into actionable insights and methodologies, guiding the organization in adopting advanced data science techniques.
• Serve as a key strategic advisor, using data insights to influence long-term business strategies and decision-making processes.
• Lead initiatives that drive business growth through technical innovation and the application of state-of-the-art data analysis techniques.

Role-related Competencies & Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, with a proven track record of solving complex data problems and contributing to industry advancements.
• Expertise in applying mathematical theories to data science, with significant contributions to the development of new analytical frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience in leading research initiatives and translating findings into actionable business insights.
• Strong strategic thinking and advisory skills, with the ability to influence long-term business strategies through data-driven insights.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse teams and fostering a culture of clear, concise, and impactful communication.
• Leadership in fostering a culture of economic thinking, priority setting, feedback, mentorship, and knowledge sharing across teams.
• Proficiency in advanced data analysis tools and programming languages used in data science (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
• Proven experience in marketing, e-commerce marketplace, or growth teams.

Expected Outcomes for initial 3 months

First 30 Days:

Understand the current data landscape, tools, and methodologies used within the organization. Establish relationships with key stakeholders and teams. Begin identifying major data challenges and opportunities for innovation. Understand Acquisition/Retention business operations and processes and how data plays a big part in them.

First 60 Days:

Lead a significant research initiative or innovation project, applying advanced mathematical theories to solve a pressing data challenge. Provide mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Propose three new data approaches to impact the business unit under analysis.

First 90 Days:

Translate a major research finding into an actionable business strategy, influencing long-term business decisions. Implement improvements in cross-team collaboration and communication practices, enhancing the organization's data science capability and efficiency.
